I know... theres nothing there. Truth be told, I haven't had much success through etsy. Listing items is time consuming and costs money, and sales have not motivated me to spend my time or money maintaining the shop.
So, for now... you're just going to have to come find me in person, or stop by Black Diamond to get the good stuff, got it?
Or, shoot me an email if you have something in mind. I'd be happy to work with you.

Custom Work: Honda in your ears, Centipede around your neck.
One of my favorite things about being a creative little artist, is this: if I want something that doesn't actually exist, aside from in my own head, I can just figure out how to make it. Like the time I made that coat out of pink monster fur (which will be coming back out of the closet in the not-so-distant future). Or the time I made cupcake plugs for my 00g lobes.
It is for this reason, that I love working on custom pieces. If one of my friends want something that doesn't exist, chances are, I can figure out how to make it. Recently, my services were requested for some unusual projects.
First, my friend Melissa was looking for some matching cupcake jewelry for herself and her daughter, because she calls her daughter "my little cupcake". HOW CUTE.
I came up with chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with rainbow frosting, glitter sprinkles, and a cherry on top. Handmade by me, out of polymer clay.
Strung with swarovski crystals and glass beads.
Melissa had to explain to her daughter that these cupcakes were not for eating, to which she replied. "Ohhhhh. I'll just eat the cherry then."
Then, the fine people at CT Scenic were in need of some "Human Centipede" themed jewelry to give away as a prize during their hilarious promotion of the Hartford premiere of the film.
So, I made this:
What can I say? Its perverse and its awesome. The winner of the drawing was totally psyched.
Next, my friend Chris commissioned me to make a pair of 0g Honda plugs as a gift. I was up for that job. Here is the adorable recipient:
Finally, these 5/8" plugs were a gift I made for my friend Sherry's birthday.
KEEP THE REQUESTS COMING. Clearly, nothing is too bizarre for me, so.....

Custom Earrings for Your Crazy Stretched Earlobes
I've blogged before about how much I dig making large gauge earrings out of polymer clay, so I was delighted to get a custom order for a pair through my Etsy shop. Gina wanted a pair of red and black zebra 1 inch spirals (to match her pants, she said).
I'm hoping Gina will be kind enough to send along a photo of her wearing them (with aforementioned pants).
She also inquired about plugs, to which I told her I'd never made them before, but I'd give it a go and see how they came out. Here are my very own super sparkle pink and purple 00g plugs.
I've been wearing them quite a bit this week. They're comfortable in my ears, and have gotten lots of compliments. If anyone is interested in a pair, in any color(s) and size, hit me up @ super_lula@yahoo.com!
And while I was at it, I also made these for myself:

I am super excited that my jewelry is now on display and available for purchase at It's Only Natural Vegetarian Restaurant, located in Middletown CT. ION has been voted Best Vegetarian Restaurant in the Hartford Advocate reader's poll since 1992, and is one of my longtime favorite spots in the area.

Lula does Western Mass
Today I traveled up to Holyoke, MA to peddle my wares at the first annual Kitschy and Crafty Craft Fair and Flea Market, hosted by some rad ladies who call themselves The Good, the Bad, and the Crafty. It was a punk/rockabilly/horror type of event, attended by tattooed, mohawked, and generally hip crafty people. There was lots of great stuff there. Jewelry, knit stuff, records, headbands that make you have a huge cupcake on your head.
But where were all the shoppers?
Eatin' burgers and drinkin' beer?
Who knows. It was a quiet day. The afternoon was broken up by a catastrophic burst pipe, right over somebody's booth- I think it was one of the organizers- and a panicked rush to get stuff out of the way, and trash barrels under the gallons and gallons of water that gushed from the ceiling. I saw the whole thing happen, and it was amazing (although very unfortunate for those who happen to be under it at the time).
Well, as always, I met lots of great folks that I hope to see again. I also scored a deck of Elvis playing cards for a mere dollar, which was definitely the deal of the day!

MY STUFF
I just logged in to my Etsy Shop for the first time in a long time to delete a few items I've recently sold, and it occurred to me that I'm now left with three listings. Three.
Threeve, if you will.
Its not because I don't have stuff. I have stuff. I just haven't put the time or energy into listing any of it on Etsy. Honestly, its time consuming. My work needs to be photographed. The photos need to be edited. The photos need to be uploaded. I need to write descriptions, list the materials used, and add tags. Oh, and I have to pay a fee for each listing.
So, if anyone is wondering why SuperLula's Etsy is so bare, thats why! I'm not abandoning it, just currently pursuing other avenues of getting my work out there.
I'm going to throw some photos into this post to give an idea of what I have, and if there is any interest, please contact me at super_lula@yahoo.com
Coming soon: photos of all the NEW and EXCITING pieces that I made just recently... the vegan stuff, the Hello Kitty, the cupcakes, popsicles, sushi, and martinis.... woot!

The Best of Hartford
Georgina of Black Diamond Body Piercing in West Hartford, CT is the second-year-in-a-row winner of Best Body Piercing in the Hartford Advocate's Reader's poll. Congratulations!
From the Hartford Advocate:
Georgina Williamson says she opened her combination body piercing and jewelry shop "a month before the world broke" with the start of the recession. Yet she's been able to come up with her second-in-a-row first-place finish in the Advocate Readers' Poll. "Considering this is the worst economy we've had in our lifetime, it's pretty promising," she says. In fact, all that depressing fiscal stuff could actually be helping her business. "Piercing is an affordable thing that can give you a little piece of happiness," Williamson says. It helps that her customers tend to feel very relaxed about the experience the moment they walk in the door. "The atmosphere I've created is very calming and pretty, not intimidating at all," she explains. The shop has jewelry creations from local artists for sale as well as paintings and sculptures available. Williamson says the key for her type of business is having satisfied customers spread the word. "People trust their friends. If they enjoy the atmosphere and the experience, they're going to tell their friends."

Black Diamond Body Piercing
I am excited to announce that SuperLula Jewelry Designs are now available at the award-winning Black Diamond Body Piercing, located at 149 Park Rd. in West Hartford, CT. Georgina, the shop owner and piercer, has been piercing in West Hartford since 1997. Georgina felt there was a need for an upscale piercing shop with a clean, spa-like environment, where body piercing was the main focus, and opened Black Diamond Body Piercing in August 2008.
In addition to the wide variety of piercings and modifications offered, Georgina carries high quality piercing jewelry and handcrafted jewelry pieces by local artisans (thats where I come in!). So, if you are in the area, you should definitely stop in for your next piercing and do some jewelry shopping!

Polymer clay in your earlobes
In all honesty, I think the last time I made something out of polymer clay was when I was 15 or 16, and it was some sort of uh, smoking device. I wonder whatever happened to that thing...
Anyway, I picked up a rainbow assortment of polymer last weekend, and have been obsessively rolling large gauge earrings. The reason I haven't had any interest in making earrings until now is because I just don't really like traditional wire earrings... my ears are stretched to 0gauge and I love big chunky sprials and organic shapes in my ears, made from glass, bone and horn. Now, I feel like I've discovered a way to not only create those styles, but to go beyond, and bigger, chunkier, and more colorful than anything I've ever seen.
I am taking requests for sizes! My ears are currently 0g, but I'm planning on going to 00g and stopping there. How about you?
